Antique rustic chinese rice basket with lots of aged patina and obvious wear. I believe these baskets were used to gather rice and other food sources. The old willow basket, with thick chunky handle, has been covered in some kind of fabric and then painted over to make it more waterproof. Traces of some chinese character writing on the side of the woven basket. The fabric does show signs of wear and tear but that all adds to the charming rustic character of this old basket.
