Antique Chinese bentwood handle willow basket, circa 1850

This beautiful basket has been intricately handwoven with thin willow strips and has 3 bentwood handles at the top, held together with a metal pin. There are chinese characters painted onto the handles.

I believe these baskets were used to gather rice and other food sources but they make the most wonderful storage for blankets, logs, kindling, toys.....
