Stunning rare 19th Century Swedish Marble top Commode.
This antique commode has it's original fossil marble top, the body inlaid with various veneers which have been bleached. The Ormolu mounts and handles are also original and refinished in verdigris. The ornamental key in the middle drawer is not original but serves as a pull/handle.
It is in very good general condition, a chip to one of the back legs which could be touched up to make it less noticeable and a small slither of veneer missing on one of the drawers. However, these are not major and do not detract from the beauty of this commode.
The marble top is in excellent condition with a few odd scratches and a tiny chip at back, consistent with age and use. This truly is a magnificent, stunning looking piece of Swedish antique furniture.
