Antique Burmese wooden owl mould

This delightful Burmese wooden mould was traditionally used to craft paper-mâché owls; owls are greatly cherished in Myanmar as symbols of good fortune and owl themed items are often given as thoughtful gifts.

This mould would have originally been painted in black but now only has a few traces of the original paint left and shows clear signs of age related wear and patina, which I personally love. A few cracks and pieces of missing wood are clearly missing but the mould is still structually sound and makes the most stunning display piece.
