Antique 18th Century Corner Hanging Cupboard, in good condition
Amazing hanging corner cupboard from Halsingland with original paint on all the panels, with owner's intials and dated 1783 on the bottom panel. Original 18th Century lock and key which is in good working condition. It looks like the base and the top moulding have been replaced/repaired at some point but it has been done extremely sympathetically so not noticeable at all. Some minor ancient woodworm holes on the very top and back but it has been treated as a precautionary measure. Fabulous, thick hand cut boards to the back and all the internal shelving in good order.
There is an original hook to the top, which would have been used to secure this cupboard to the ceiling as it is a heavy piece. However, as it is a tall hanging cupboard, it would work, just as well as a standing corner cupboard
Measurements: Height 137cm, Width 87cm, Depth of actual piece 50cm but due to the back corner being squared out in shape, a depth of 65cm would be needed
