Antique French Digoin Confit pot with creamy mustard glaze and two handles

Beautiful French terracotta confit pot with creamy mustard coloured glaze to the exterior, rust coloured glaze inside and two side handles. Dating from the 19th century, this pot was used to conserve food – mainly meats in fat – before the invention of refrigeration. Gorgeous aged patina and colouring. The odd nibble to the terracotta but all commensurate with age and use. Please study the photographs as they form part of the description.
