Antique Nagaland wooden pedestal bowls
These tall wooden food bowls originate from Nagaland, a remote tribal region in northeastern India near the border with Myanmar. Traditionally hand-carved from pieces of tropical hardwood and used by the Naga tribes for their daily meals, they carry the warmth of generations in their beautifully aged patina.
With their sculptural form and rich character, these striking pieces are as versatile as they are decorative—ideal for presenting fruit, sweets, shells, or simply as a beautiful display piece.
We currently have two available, one taller pedestal bowl without a handle and a shorter pedestal bowl with a handle. Both bowls have obvious repairs to the rim and show blemishes and imperfections, consistent with their age and useage. I consider these to be part of their historical character and perfectly imperfect. Please study the photos carefully as they form part of their description.
