Amazing Antique 19th Century French sycamore stretcher table, originating from the kitchen of a chateau in Southern France. Believed to have been used essentially as a large kitchen prep table, its proportions are beautiful and of a classic design.
The sycamore top was found with a formica covering which was subsequently removed. It revealed the original natural sycamore wood underneath, which although is in beautiful clean condition does have lots of ancient wood worm holes and markings. There are also ancient wood worm holes in the base but these have all been treated as a precaution. A zinc covering could easily be added to the top to make a cool kitchen island.
There are large drawers on both ends of the table with their original hand turned knobs.
This beautiful table would make an impressive kitchen island or a lovely family dining table
