Antique Swedish Country Secretaire Cupboard, circa 18th Century
Traditional Swedish Country Secretaire, later painted in chalk grey with pale blue showing through beneath in areas. The top architrave is not original but a later replacement of the original one but it blends in beautifully. The desk top rests on the open drawer beneath. Lots of storage on the top shelves, large cupboard below and the beautiful drawers in the desk. The old Swedish wallpaper is still present on the back to block out any large gaps between the back boards. This piece originates from Jamtland Region, North Sweden.
There are lots of age related wear and tear and marks to this beautiful piece and one of the small desk drawers has been repaired over the years. However this piece nearly 250 years old and these marks reflect this and adds to its character and charm. There is nothing seriously damaged on this piece and it functions perfectly as a Secretaire cupboard.
